Where It All Began

The Prototype: Denim, Dreams & DIY

Feelin’ Blue was born in June 2019, not in a fancy studio or sleek storefront—but in the cozy chaos of my childhood bedroom in Beach Haven West, NJ. It all started with a simple compliment.

I had taken a pair of old thrifted jeans and turned them into distressed cut-offs that somehow managed to capture attention everywhere I went. People kept asking where I got them. The answer? My scissors, my hands, and a little creative instinct.

That spark lit a fire.

I headed back to the thrift store with five pairs of jeans in various sizes, determined to recreate the magic. Armed with fabric scissors, bleach, and a playlist of early 2000s indie rock, I distressed, snipped, and sewed until I had a tiny but mighty collection of one-of-a-kind shorts.

Then came the big leap: launching @shop_feelinblue on Instagram. I didn’t know if anyone would buy them—but they did. Quickly.

The Leap from Digital to Real-Life

Going Live: From Instagram to Pop-Ups

Fueled by this unexpected burst of support, I packed up my denim creations and hosted my very first in-person pop-up shop in July at 506 Boutique in Surf City. My handmade shorts were priced at $10, and I sold quirky little clutches crafted from the cuffs of jean legs for just $5.

It wasn’t glamorous, but it was real—and people showed up. That first pop-up was the moment I realized Feelin’ Blue had the potential to be something more than just a summer side project.

The Feelin’ Blue Philosophy

Since then, Feelin’ Blue has grown into something I never imagined. We’ve expanded from those first humble cut-offs into a full-fledged recycled fashion brand, popping up all over Long Beach Island and North Jersey. Every piece in our collection—whether it’s a reworked jacket, a vintage tee, or a curated homeware find—carries a story. It’s not just about style. It’s about soul.

What I love most is watching these pieces come to life again. A jacket that sat in someone’s closet for years is suddenly someone else's new favorite thing. Seeing customers light up when they find their piece—that’s the real reward.

No Waste, Just Wonder

The Heart of It All: People, Passion & Purpose

At the heart of Feelin’ Blue is a commitment to sustainability and storytelling. When people donate their denim, they’re not just giving away an old pair of jeans—they’re handing me a canvas. I handpick every piece, wash it, deconstruct it, and reimagine it into something new.

Nothing goes to waste. The scraps? Turned into packaging, patchwork, or accessories. It’s fashion with intention—and a full-circle mission I’m incredibly proud of.

This sweater is so sweet and comfy. I love it! I cannot say enough good things about feelin' blue. Amazing owner, amazing products, and amazing prices! I am always so excited when new products are added because I know I'll love them! Also check out all of the denim handmade products the quality is amazing and all of the products are so unique.

Where We’re Headed

Looking back, it still blows my mind how far this little dream has come. Feelin’ Blue started with a pair of scissors and a creative itch, and it’s grown into a movement of conscious style, individuality, and community love.

I feel so grateful for every person who’s been part of this ride—those who’ve donated jeans, shopped the pop-ups, shared our story, and believed in what we’re building.

This journey has been nothing short of magical—like the universe whispered, “Go for it,” and I actually listened. And honestly? I can’t wait to see where we go next.

With love + denim,
